Our Story

Riverwood Commons opened in 2001 as a 24-unit income-eligible senior housing community constructed by The Pulaski Health Foundation.

It was developed to provide affordable, well-maintained, independent housing for seniors and qualified disabled residents in Pulaski County.

Riverwood Commons is a tax credit property governed by Section 42 of the Internal Revenue Code.

Riverwood Commons is designed to make everyday living simple, comfortable, and connected. Tenants enjoy a variety of convenient amenities including free on-site laundry with no quarters needed, secured building entry for added peace of mind, and five covered patios—one of which is screened—perfect for relaxing or socializing. Indoor amenities are all located under one roof for easy access, and services like pest control and trash removal are included. The community is smoke-free and features an on-site bus stop for added convenience.

Who Qualifies

Riverwood Commons only serves:

  • Seniors age 55 and older

  • Individuals with disabilities of any age who meet the definition outlined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and are verified by a qualified medical professional, counselor, or authorized third party.

This is an independent living community. Assisted living or medical services are not provided on-site.

In accordance with policy, only service/companion animals are permitted.

Affordable Living That Makes Sense

Riverwood Commons is an income-eligible, 55+ community governed by Section 42 housing guidelines.

We proudly offer:

  • Income-based rent tiers (40%, 50%, and 60% AMI)

  • Security deposit: One month’s rent

  • One-year lease terms

  • All utilities included in the rent: Electricity, Gas, Water, Sewer, Trash and Heat

  • HUD vouchers accepted

  • No application fee

With utilities included and free laundry, tenants often save significantly each month.
